Reverse acne scars and aging skin with collagen renewal

We offer Surrey RF microneedling, near Vancouver, using the Infini™ RF tool by Lutronic®.

Infini™ RF is a medical-grade system that goes beyond traditional microneedling. While stimulating collagen by creating punctures in the skin, it also delivers bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy. The energy heats the deep dermal layers. This magnifies the skin tightening effects of microneedling, making it a professional treatment for conditions like acne scars, stretch marks, under eye circles, keloids, wrinkles and more.

Are you looking for traditional microneedling in Surrey? We offer that too! Ask us for more info!

Why you’ll love Infini™ RF microneedling

Minimal downtime

You can go back to your normal activities after an Infini™ RF treatment. Most patients experience only mild swelling and redness which last 2 to 5 +/- days.

Minimal side effects*

The Infini™ RF uses insulated needles, which heat the skin only at their tips, and below the skin’s surface. This lowers the risk of side effects, even for dark skin.

Minimal pain

Infini™ RF uses very thin needles, which lessen the ‘ouch’ factor.** A topical numbing cream is also used to maximize comfort during treatment.

*In a multi-centre study, the risk of side effects using fractional radiofrequency (MFR) was low (2.3%). However, the potential for side effects can not be completely ruled out.
**When compared with other microneedling devices using thicker needles.

Clinically-studied results:

In a multi-centre, worldwide study of 499 patients, Infini™ RF treatment efficacy was measured to be between 80.7% to 88.9%.

Moreover, patient satisfaction was ranked between 81.3% to 85.9% among the centres.

In another study, microneedling fractional radiofrequency (MFR) showed “moderate” to “very good” results on acne scars in 70% of patients.

How does Infini RF™ microneedling work?

Create ‘micro injuries’

Using controlled, radio-frequency heat, tiny areas beneath the skin’s surface are intentionally damaged.

Heal and regenerate

The healing and regenerative process continues for 6 to 12 months after treatment sessions.

Restore collagen

In order to heal, the skin restores lost collagen, resulting in newer, fresher skin.

The Infini RF™ has the advantage of using radio frequency energy only at the tip of its needles, while keeping the rest of the needle stem insulated. This allows for what’s called, “High Intensity Focused RF Microneedling.”

In other words, instead of creating long, downward columns in the skin, it only creates small pockets of intentional injury after being injected at different depths. Depths can be customized by the practitioner, and reach 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm into the skin.

After injection, tiny ‘micro injuries’ stimulate the body’s healing response to produce collagen and elastin.

The needles on the Infini RF™ are made with surgical-grade stainless steel. Either 16 or 49 of these microneedles are attached to the handpiece at a time. The 49-needle head covers 1 sq cm.  However, it works fast! Each treatment session creates about “50,000+ micro-coagulation zones.”

What is an RF microneedling treatment like?

RF microneedling with Infini RF in Surrey (Vancouver)

Before the session, we’ll apply a numbing cream to the treatment area.

Using the handpiece noted above, a technician will go over the treatment area with 3 passes.

The first pass will create the deepest penetration, followed by a mid-level pass, and finishing off with a more shallow pass. This way, more of the skin is treated, without going over the heated zones twice (which can otherwise be more painful).

The entire face can take 45 – 60 minutes to treat with Infini RF™. The face, neck and chest can take between 60 to 90 minutes. Additional time is needed for numbing.

Is RF microneedling painful?

During RF microneedling treatments, you may feel some discomfort. However, most people find it tolerable. Some have described it as a snapping or stinging sensation.

A topical anaesthetic may be used, if necessary.

How many treatments does RF microneedling require to see results?

The number of RF microneedling treatments needed to see results can vary from person-to-person. Results can depend on:

  • The specific skin condition being treated
  • The severity of the case
  • Individual response to treatment
  • Lifestyle habits (e.g. smoking, sun exposure, skin routines)

And more.

Generally speaking, it is often recommended to undergo 3 to 4 RF microneedling treatments, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

At our clinic, we require a minimum of 3 treatments, since desired results are highly unlikely with any fewer. Patients with deep acne scars may need at least 4 to 6 treatments, if not more.

Thereafter, we recommend maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months.

Results will be most visible 6 to 12 months after an initial treatment series. Though, skin is expected to gradually improve for up to a year.

Is there downtime after RF microneedling treatments? What about side effects?

Downtime with RF microneedling is minimal. Some may experience redness, peeling and acne breakouts during the healing process. The initial side effects usually last about 2 – 7 days, and can feel like a bad sunburn.

To help ease irritation, pre and post treatment care may include specific skin care products to promote faster healing. You may also be asked to avoiding anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen, blood-thinners. This includes over-the-counter painkillers, herbal supplements (like garlic) or alcohol.

RF microneedling can not be done on those who have a pacemaker, or who take blood thinners.
