Application:
- Morning and evening, after serum.
- Face, neck and chest.
Best for:
- Free radical repair and hydration.
- Normal to dry skin (but not sensitive skin).
A wonderful, anti-aging face cream with several wrinkle-fighting and hydrating ingredients. These include retinyl palmitate (a type of retinol) and sodium hyaluronate (a type of hyaluronic acid), plus antioxidant vitamins. In this one formula you get your vitamin C, your vitamin E, your vitamin A, your pro-vitamin B5, and several plant-derived skin soothers, moisturizers and water-binders (see below for more detail).
As you age, your skin loses its ability to hold on to oils and water. This, in part, leads to dull, wrinkled, dry and sagging skin. While no doubt, a healthy diet and regular use of sunscreen is pertinent to any anti-aging routine, we also can’t go without moisturizer. The Rejuvenative Moisturizer by SkinMedica® is an excellent choice for those with normal to dry skin. When used in a regular skin care routine alongside other products, it can help you get back your ‘glow.’
A few helpful things to know about this product:
We don’t recommend this product for sensitive skin, due the presence of fragrance. Oily skin sufferers should also not use this product, as it may be too heavy, and thus cause breakouts. Alternatives for these cases include:
- TNS® Ceramide Treatment Cream (for very dry skin, in need of repair or healing).
- Ultra Sheer Moisturizer (for oily, ‘thick’ and acneic skin in need of slight, non-comedogenic moisturization).
- AHA/BHA Cream (for gentle, all-day and all-night exfoliation with hyperpigmented or acneic skin).
- Pep Up® Collagen Renewal Face & Neck Treatment (for oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturization of sagging, wrinkled skin or prevention).
This product is best used in a regimen alongside other skin care helpers. The best way to find out what’s right for you, is to contact us for a consultation. We’ll let you know what we think might solve your specific skin concerns.
Notable skin care ingredients
Sodium hyaluronate – the most common form of hyaluronic acid (HA) found in skin care products. HA is what binds to water, to hydrate your skin. Get more forms of HA, to penetrate your skin more deeply, with the HA5™ Rejuvenating Hydrator by SkinMedica®.
Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (vitamin C) – This is a fat-soluble (lipid-soluble) form of vitamin C. It is believed to help with absorption, since the skin contains some fat.
Tocopheryl acetate – a stable form of vitamin E, which fights free radicals as an antioxidant.
Tocotrienols – also a form of vitamin E, these are potent derivatives, usually from grain plants. They have been shown to help with a host of skin issues, from sun damage, to dark spots, skin laxity, dryness and more.
Retinyl palmitate – a form of vitamin A, acting as an antioxidant.
Panthenol – also known as pro-vitamin B5 (yes, the one in shampoos), this is a water and moisture sealant for the skin. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties to help with redness from damaged cells. Panthenol is also found in the Facial Cleanser by SkinMedica®, which is great for day-to-day cleansing.
Butyrospermum parkii butter (shea butter) – a fantastic moisturizer and skin soother, especially for aging skin. If you are using an exfoliating product, shea butter can help replenish skin moisture in your routine.
Squalane – a hydrogenated, saturated, stable oil that helps with moisturization in a non-comedogenic (non clogging) way. It’s also an antioxidant, skin soother and some even say, an antibacterial agent. Not to be confused with squalene (notice the ‘e’?), which is less stable.
Avena sativa (oat) kernel extract – an anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredient. Great for dryness.
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice – basically aloe vera, this plant has been used extensively to sooth skin, especially after sun burns or on wounds. It is hydrating (with its high water content) and has some antioxidant benefits.
Plus, plant oils and extracts like: phytosterols, algae extract, ginkgo biloba leaf extract and stearyl glycyrrhetinate. These act as conditioners, soothers and antioxidant sources.
