You can choose a doctor-led, private clinic to treat health-related, quality-of-life medical problems
While we are a cosmetic laser and skin care centre, we are also, still, a medically-directed clinic. Our lead doctor, Dr. Shah, is a licensed, practicing, family physician. We also operate a family medical clinic with other doctors, next door to our Surrey laser centre.
Our options for treating health nuisances can result in a big quality-of-life improvement for some people.
For example, hyperhidrosis patients may want a long-term solution to their excessive underarm sweat. We can do that with miraDry®, or even with Botox®.
Pain, TMJ and migraine sufferers may be tired of constantly taking medication. Botox® can be a preventative, months-long solution for pain management.
The list can go on; from severe acne to rosacea, unsightly scars, moles and warts. Sometimes, public health systems are just not equipped, or fully funded, to be able to offer the latest technological treatments available. Other times, these issues may be considered purely cosmetic, even if they affect one’s self-confidence in a serious way.
For these reasons, private health treatments may be the answer. Thankfully, our clinic not only has the tools on hand to deal with these problems; we also have the medical expertise to offer efficacious treatments, and ongoing follow up.
To learn more about how we can help you with the above-listed concerns, we encourage you to book a consultation at our clinic. We’ll learn more about you, and provide you with options for treatment paths we think are right for you.
FAQs about our private health treatments for non-urgent care and cosmetic concerns
Below we answer some questions you may have about our private treatments for health nuisances. Feel free to get in touch with us if your question is not listed below. We’ll do our best to answer. However, for specifics, we’ll need to see you in person, first.
Why opt for these procedures at all, if they don’t come with insurance coverage?
Our treatments for health-related problems can be a faster, more effective option for dealing with the medical condition at hand. They are modern solutions to common health nuisances (which may also be cosmetic). They save time, hassle and sometimes, even the pain and side effects that come with traditional approaches to these problems.
Plus, there are hardly any wait times for these procedures. At most, it may be a week or two before we can schedule you in for a treatment.
For these reasons, and more, people often prefer our solutions, instead of publicly-funded treatments.
Are your private treatments safe, and approved by Health Canada?
Yes, they are. Doctors are allowed to perform the procedures we offer in a private setting. They are not dangerous, nor ‘experimental’ or illegal at all. They are regulated, vetted, well-researched and come with scientific backing from well-known, reputable brands. They have also been performed on several thousand patients already.
If these health-related solutions are so effective, why aren’t they covered by MSP in B.C.?
We can’t answer on behalf of the B.C. government as to what they regard as a medical need, or not. However, we can guess that this has to do with funding.
Plus, it’s important to note that the solutions we offer are meant for non-life-threatening problems, where other treatment options exist by prescription, surgery or otherwise. They address problems that doctors in B.C. can still treat, though not in the same way (except in a private setting).
For example, MSP will certainly cover treatment for a cancerous mole. But if the mole is purely an aesthetic concern, they will not.
When it comes to rosacea, hyperhidrosis or migraines, there are prescriptions available, which you can get with the approval of a doctor. But, these are often ‘use it or lose it’ treatments. Patients may prefer longer-term solutions for their health issues, which we can offer.
Acne and warts can be treated at a doctor’s office. But in these cases, people may prefer non-surgical, drug-free technologies to treat their condition. We can offer that.
Where can I find out the pricing of your private health services?
We provide general estimates for our services on each of their description pages (see links above).
However, to get a better understanding of pricing for your case, we will need to see you in person. We encourage you to book a consultation at our clinic. There, we’ll get to know more about your concerns, and recommend a treatment path based on your needs.
What are my options if I can’t afford to pay for your treatments all at once?
For people on a budget, we often suggest financing through third-party companies that we have arrangements with. You can learn more about these payment plans, here.
Allergan, the maker of Botox®, also offers special pricing on this drug for severe migraine sufferers. You can learn more on this page of our website.
Finally, it may be that your extended health or private insurance carrier will cover some, or all, of the cost of treatments at our clinic. We encourage you to check with them, to make sure.
