Are you looking for a Vancouver brow lift? We can help, using multiple modalities to achieve the look you’re going for!
Many people seek aesthetic treatments for specific areas of the face and body. One popular treatment area is the brows. People love the look of raised brows. They make the eyes appear more youthful, alert and less angry. They can also reduce the prominence of eye circles, or ‘racoon eyes.’
Traditionally, surgery was the only way to achieve a brow lift in Vancouver. But is that still the only way? Let’s learn more about droopy eyebrows and solutions to this cosmetic concern.
What causes eyebrows to droop in the first place?
As we age, we lose collagen, elastin, muscle, bone density and fat in our face. Combined, these factors cause our skin to sag. That’s because it has less to hang on to as a result of these losses.
When our forehead skin sags, we get what’s called a ‘heavy brow.’ It is essentially a lowered brow. The crease in our eyelids deepens, and we begin to look more tired or angry.
How can a Vancouver brow lift be achieved without surgery?
If you’re looking for a non-surgical brow lift in Vancouver, you’ll be happy to know there are multiple viable options nowadays.
Below are examples:
Botox® brow lift
A Botox® brow lift works by relaxing the orbicularis oculi and the corrugator muscles. These are located around the eye socket and the border of the eyebrows. Without Botox® to relax these muscles, they naturally tend to pull the eyebrows downward.
By weakening the muscles near the eyebrows, the frontalis muscle on the forehead can then more strongly lift the eyebrows upward.
A Botox® brow lift can raise the brows about one to five millimeters for about three to four months. Some people experience the effects longer. It all depends on how each individual metabolizes the substance.
The results of Botox® last around 3 to 4 months. Repeat injections are necessary to continue to see results.
Dermal filler brow contouring
Eyebrows can also be contoured upward using dermal filler. This works by filling the eyebrow fat pads with volumizing gel, typically made of hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in our bodies. However, dermal fillers can also be made of other substances.
During a dermal filler brow lift (also known as a liquid brow lift), an aesthetic injector will inject filler into the brow bone area, starting where the tail end of the brows are. They will then mold the filler into place, so it blends in smoothly with your existing muscle and bone curve.
During the procedure, the injector may also recommend filling the temples. These can make the face look fuller and brighten the upper face overall.
Dermal fillers can last between 6 to 18 months, or even up to 5 years, depending on the filler that is being used.
Botox® and dermal fillers can be used together to create an even more effective non-surgical brow lift.
Ultherapy® brow lift
Ultherapy® works to stimulate the body’s collagen production by heating the lower dermal layers. It uses ultrasound energy to do so.
Lately, Ultherapy® has become the “gold standard” in skin tightening, winning awards and showing its worth through several scientific studies.
In the past, Ultherapy® was a painful treatment. However, its newer version comes with ultrasound visualization, which helps practitioners avoid pain spots.
The effects of an Ultherapy® brow lift can vary from person to person, because it depends on how much collagen loss each person begins with.
Ultherapy® maintenance treatments are recommended every 12 to 24 months.
Why not get a surgical brow lift?
For some people, a surgical brow lift is the right choice. It can be a personal decision. But it can also be because non-surgical methods won’t have as much of an effect, since the sagging skin is too far gone.
Either way, a patient should understand the potential risks of surgical brow lifts. These include:
- Unintentional, unsightly scars
- Infections
- Long-term pain, bruising and swelling
- Nerve damage
- Eyebrow hair loss
And possibly more.
Of course, side effects can also have to do with technique and the experience of the plastic surgeon who performs the operation. So, never shop for cosmetic procedures based on price alone!
Raising eyebrows without surgery is possible!
Depending on the state of your eyebrows, it’s highly plausible they can be raised without surgery. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures like Botox®, dermal fillers or Ultherapy® can be used to lift the brows temporarily. They can also be used together, for even more effectiveness.
If you’re looking for more than a 5 mm lift, surgery may be the better option for you. However, trying out a brow lift with non-surgical options can be a good start. That way you can decide if you like the look, before making it permanent.
If you live in the Vancouver area and like the sound of a non-surgical brow lift, we’re able to help, using multiple technologies.
